Dragon Run / Greater SBA Scholarship Presentation

In its 9th year, The Dragon Run 5k has grown immensely into an annual community event that draws runners from the surrounding community as well as a heavy involvement from student-athletes from the Kingsway Regional School District. Taking part in community events and charity efforts is an important component of the GSBA and its membership with annual scholarships, fundraisers and charitable contributions among its focus. So taking part in the Dragon Run seems like an easy task (despite what his finishing time might suggest…) IMG_7562 Proceeds from the Dragon Run go to the Nathaniel Boerlin Scholarship Fund which is a non-profit organization dedicated to the passions of Nate Boerlin. Nate was a proud 16 year old honor student at Kingsway Regional High School who also excelled as a percussionist. Nate died suddenly in April 2007, from complications of a GBM, GLIOBLASTOMA MULTIFORME, an aggressive stage IV brain cancer. All proceeds from the Race will benefit the NBSF, where a perpetual scholarship is given to a deserving graduate from KRHS who emulates Nate’s passions for learning and music. After the run, Pete Curran and Joe Bouvier were on hand at the medal ceremony where they took a moment to publicly congratulate this year’s $1500 GSBA Scholarship Award winner, Alaina Boerlin. The GSBA Scholarship is an annual essay contest open to high school seniors. Pete Curran Alaina Boerlin
